Essays

This is a list of long-form essays I have written about television, usually but not always focusing on an individual episode of television.

  1. Blink: Existential Horror and the Passage of Time (originally posted October 30th 2010; reposted on WaywardTV on March 6th 2012)
This essay explores the Doctor Who episode “Blink” through the lens of existentialism in order to examine its effectiveness as a horror-inducing episode of television.
  2. Hush: The Horror of Living Fairy Tales and Voice As Identity (posted June 11th 2012)This essay explores the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode “Hush” through the lens of fairy tales and, briefly, identity as an alternate examination of existential terror expressed in televisual form.
